What type of Gutter Guard do I need?

Gutter guards are an important part of any gutter system, as they help prevent leaves, debris, and other materials from clogging the gutters and causing water damage to your home. There are several types of gutter guards available on the market today. Here are some of the most common types:

  1. Mesh Gutter Guards

Mesh gutter guards are made from a fine metal or plastic mesh that covers the entire gutter. They are designed to let water through while keeping debris out. These are a popular choice because they are affordable and easy to install.

  2. Reverse Curve Gutter Guards

Reverse curve gutter guards, also known as surface tension gutter guards, have a curved design that allows water to flow into the gutter while debris slides off the edge. They are typically made from metal and are a good choice for areas with heavy rainfall or snowfall.

  3. Foam Gutter Guards

Foam gutter guards are made from a porous foam material that fits into the gutter. They are designed to allow water to flow through while keeping debris out. These are a good choice if you are looking for an affordable and easy-to-install option.

  4. Bottle Brush Gutter Guards

Bottle brush gutter guards are made from a bristle-like material that fits into the gutter. They are designed to trap debris on top of the brush while allowing water to flow through. These are a good choice if you live in an area with a lot of small debris, such as pine needles.

  5. Perforated Gutter Guards

Perforated gutter guards are made from metal or plastic and have small holes that allow water to flow through while keeping debris out. These are a good choice if you live in an area with heavy rainfall or snowfall.

  6. Gutter Screens

Gutter screens are made from metal or plastic and fit over the top of the gutter. They are designed to keep debris out while allowing water to flow through. These are a good choice if you are looking for a low-cost and easy-to-install option. These are the type of guards you will find in your local Big Box Hardware store, they’re cheap, but keep in mind, you get what you pay for.

At LAB Exteriors we install both the Bulldog Gutter Guard (perforated) and the Xtreme Gutter Guard (micro mesh) guards. In the end, we don’t think gutter guards should be complicated. By providing two different options, we can work with you based on your specific needs and price points.
